Do you have an Effective Exit Strategy for your Small Business?

It’s such a blessing to work with all manner of businesses and CEOs from different walks of life; getting a front row seat in their decision making and execution processes. It has helped me learn and grow in all aspects of business leadership; the bad, the good and the ugly.



Yesterday, I checked in on an old client who went through a rough time last year. Thankfully, she’s in a good place now and business is flourishing once more. 


After our conversation, I sat back to think about our journeys as entrepreneurs. I pondered upon another client of mine who closed her business around October last year to pursue other dreams. Her business was quite different from all others I've supported. She is an academic with a patent for a nonprofit program evaluation method she’d developed. 



Her exit strategy was so simple and easy; she was going to sell the patent, her research, and her website. As at the time I started working with her, she already had all her SOPs put together in a single document with a table of contents. She was so inspiring, calm at all times and deeply insightful. I learnt a great deal from supporting her. 



 📌 Which brings me back to my point and purpose for this post; to ask you what’s your plan? I mean you surely don’t intend to keep launching new offers and marketing your businesses everyday like you currently do. By the grace of God you will grow; and with growth, you will face bigger challenges and possibly surmount them but what is the big picture?🖼️



You might not have started with the end in mind but here’s your reminder to start thinking about that. Would you like to sell your business? Perhaps welcome investors? If your business solution is novel, do you have a patent yet? These are important questions you need to ask and answer otherwise, one day will come when you won’t be able to withstand the incessant sense of overwhelm that so frequently plague us entrepreneurs.



For me, my plan has always been to create economic opportunities for African talents. As such, my agency hires exclusively from Africa🌍


We are constantly searching for collaborations that will expand the frontiers of the business. When the right time comes, I would gladly hand off leadership or pivot to another service that fulfills the same goal. 



I know what my end goal is but haven’t quite figured out the roadmap so this post is for you and I both 🫠
